In Memoriam |
| ANNE JAEGER: This year we need to mark the passing of one of our own: Judi Dreier. I didn't know Judi personally, but Steven Nash did and he passed on his rememberances to us recently: He wrote: "Judi & I were very good friends 26 years ago when we did Funny Girl together at the Portland Civic Theater. We lost contact for a few years there but reconnected when she was volunteering at Broadway Rose. Judi was a good time, a very funny girl! When I got the email (about her passing) yesterday, it weighed very heavy on my heart with sadness. Another reminder to cherish our relationships and keep those people close, we never know how long we have. " Her last show was Crazy for You at Lakewood And now, if you would, one last ovation for Judi Dreier. |
Letters of Thanks |
Dear PAMTA Committee, Thank you so much for the nomination and award for last evening. I was unable to attend, I was flying up in Canada and heard that I had received a couple of the awards last evening as I was flying back into the states on Tuesday. I have enjoyed coming to the PAMTA awards the last two years and tried to get out of flying last evening but was unsuccessful this year and thus could not attend. Thank you so much for nominating me and thank you for the recognition last evening. It means a great deal. The award means a lot to coming from you, and a committee that loves music and theater as much as I do. Thank you for all of the work that you do putting this award ceremony together and pausing for a moment to recognize all of the wonderful musical productions and talented folks that work in Musical Theater in Portland. Rody (Ortega) |
I wanted to drop a line to say thank you for the honor of a PAMTA award for my work on "A Little Night Music". I'm so thrilled to be a part of a thriving and welcoming theatre community and sad that I could not be apart of the festivities last evening. I am currently designing costumes and puppets for a production of Ave. Q for the Forestburgh Playhouse in upstate New York and will not be back in Portland until Late July. Many thank yous again, looking forward to next year! Best, Darrin J. Pufall |
Dear Portland Area Musical Theatre Awards Committee, Thank you so much for your consideration at your last awards ceremony. It isn't often that props are recognized in award ceremonies and I am honored that you would make special recognition of my work (and the work of Mike Jones and Camille Cettina) in Pinnochio. It was truly a wonderful production to work on, the people, the piece itself, and the treatment... I am sorry I wasn't at your event, it sounds like it was a wonderful and glamorous evening! I'm especially impressed at the care your members go through to make judgment fairly and anonymously. Thank you for all your efforts in encouraging theatre professionals in Portland to strive for higher levels of craft. Best Regards, kollodi |

Dear Portland Area Musical Theatre Awards Committee, Please accept my deepest thanks for the wonderful honor of your Outstanding Actor Award. Receiving this Award for the role of Tateh, a role that will always be near and dear to me, is all the more meaningful, because I will always treasure my memories of this very special production. I loved being part of Ragtime at Portland Center Stage. I will be forever grateful to Chris Coleman for that opportunity. It was a thrill to have the privilege of working with such a gifted ensemble and crew. I was in awe of my colleagues, and to be singled out for recognition is amazing. Thank you. I believe every member of the ensemble gave an award worthy performance every night, and working with such warm and wonderful people like Gavin, Susannah, Robert, and too many others to name, was magical every night. I was in rehearsal on Awards night for the show I just opened this weekend. I very much regret that I could not be at the ceremony to accept in person. I want you to know how much I appreciate PAMTA's focus on the tremendous musical theater produced in the Portland Area each year. It is a wonderful thing to be a part of this theatrical community, and a very special achievement to win this award. Thank you again. With Gratitude, Leif Norby |
